For years my family has always worked with Schoedinger funeral home. Our family has always been impressed by how professional and compassionate the Columbus downtown chapel handled our loved ones final wishes. Here recently when the time came for my family to make arrangements for my mother, we had no doubt about who would be carrying for her. The Heart & Hope funeral home by Schoedinger-Hilltop Chapel went above and beyond in every part of the process. From start to finish my family and I worked closely with Andrea the chapel manager, as well as several staff members. Everyone we came in contact with or worked with there was professional, patient, knowledgeable and offered their condolences. They wanted to get to know our loved one so that they could capture the best in my mother and to provide the best memorial service with as less stress as possible for the family. They were so amazing! Andrea and the entire staff were so dedicated to making my family comfortable in understanding how my mother remains would be cared for, transported, and prepared for our private family viewing, and the cremation process. For all of the tenderness and heartfelt moments that were shared while working with Andrea, at times I felt like the majority of her attention was focused on what my family needed during this time of grief and mourning. She wasn't there just to plan, she was there to help us heal also. She wasn't pushy, quick talking, or uninterested. We were treated in the highest reguard for us all to have time to grieve, share stories about my mother, and given time to make decisions based on my mother's wishes. She listened. It was especially helpful that we were given the opportunity to really be involved in planning her memorial even with all of the Covid-19 restrictions in place. I found it very convenient that Mom's memorial service was streamed live online for those that couldn't attend. To this day I felt like the amount of teamwork, dedication, professionalism, and compassionate people that work here welcomed us like family and focused on the needs of the family, like we were the only family that needed help healing. From the heart is the place that these people work from, and it showed because my entire family felt it. From phone calls just to check on us, a friendly text just to see if we needed anything, or a last minute dash to find a priest for the memorial service after the one that my family had already made arrangements with had canceled. I recommend that Heart and Hope Funeral Home - by Schoedinger be the first choice when it comes to laying your loved one to rest. I am thankful that my mother and I did a prepaid planning arrangement with Heart and Hope. I really feel like my mother was celebrated, cared for and loved here, and that our family had time to be together as family while Andrea and her staff put their heart into making it as easy as possible on us during this devastating time for our family. Again, many thanks to all of those who were involved in giving my mom a first class memorial service. Your grace was definitely appreciated.
