My family has chosen Shaw-Davis Funeral Homes twice in the last ten years. Each time we were extremely satisfied with their professionalism and attention to what we wanted. What I appreciated most of all was the fact that no one tried to sell us anything, everything was about what we wanted . That meant so much to us. Thank you Shaw-Davis.
I''m not even sure where to start with my review. I used Shaw-Davis' services for my parents, about 8 months apart. My mom died in May of 2023, and my dad died in January of 2024. They were friends of many funeral directors, and my dad even lived at Southwick Good (before it was Southwick Good & Fortkamp), so I was raised going to funerals and being pretty aware of the process, what to expect, who did things right, who didn't, etc. Nothing prepares you for when the process becomes YOUR process, though. When Mom died, John Solt called me and immediately had me at ease with him. I was distraught, and he was a calm, kind, informative voice. Throughout the entire process, he was a constant contact, almost literally holding my hand through everything. When Dad died, I was, all of a sudden, the adult who really had to step up and handle everything. I reached out to John, and again, he was wonderful. He truly cared about my grief, was appropriately funny when I needed it, and made an absolute nightmare bearable. He worked with friends of my father's who played in the OSU marching band with him, and was able to have them come play at his service. It was incredble. All of this to say that I'm not 100% surprised. This family-run, longstanding business is here for the right reasons. They don't overcharge (even though they could), they are honest, forthright, transparent, kind, caring, thorough, and in all ways wonderful. I only wish I had been able to meet John through different circumstances. I will forever be indebted to him, and I can not recommend Shaw-Davis enough.
Through such a hard time in people's life they make things very easy to get things situated. A huge thank you to John Solt for helping us get through the planning & getting things finalized & also a thank you to Amy for making the pick up so easy & for all of your kind words!! Very appreciative!!
We were so impressed with Harry Shaw and would highly recommend Shaw-Davis to anyone facing difficult decisions about funeral arrangements. They were the most reasonable by far too. They did a beautiful job and we could not be happier with how everything turned out. They were very professional and efficient when other funeral homes told us it would take 3 weeks to have the funeral; they made it happen in ten days. Thank you for helping us walk through those difficult days and decisions.
This was the best expierence I have had while planning my father's funeral. Polite, efficient, took care of absolutely EVERYTHING, and was the most affordable place. A 15k funeral for less than 7, yet still better service than the 15k funeral home and the price was as posted online without Mr. Shaw ever trying to push anything else on us (and that was including the pick up, prep, visitation, funeral, police escort, cemetery services, honorarium, casket, vault, flowers, tent, chairs, opening and closing of plot, pamphlets, memorial book, military honors and flag, precession, obituary in paper and online eulogy, death certificates, and I even had the funeral in Delaware City at my place of choice - they set everything up at my location!). I am so very happy with Shaw Davis and recommend this place to EVERYONE needing funeral services. Even during the pick up of my father, the gentlemen requested my permission before taking him. I did not have to do anything but grieve.
